Forex regulation and broker checks in Australia

Check the local authorities, licensed entities, client-protection limits and official complaint routes for Australia.

Forex regulation in Australia

An Australian broker check should match the full legal entity and AFSL in ASIC’s professional registers. Company registration, ABN, ACN and AFSL serve different purposes and are not interchangeable; also confirm status, authorised activities and registered website.

Regulatory scope and roles

ASIC regulates Australian financial services and market conduct. An international brand may allocate customers to different entities, so a brand holding an AFSL does not prove that you will contract with its Australian licensed entity.

Client-protection boundaries

Australian retail CFDs are subject to product-intervention conditions, but there is no statutory investor compensation scheme. Money arrangements, dispute handling and protections still depend on the product, customer status and contracting entity.

How to confirm service eligibility

Match the entity in the client agreement to the AFSL record and confirm that it may provide the relevant service. Finding only a company registration number without the corresponding AFSL does not establish financial-services authorisation.

Complaints and evidence to retain

Complain formally to the licensed entity first and keep records. If unresolved, use ASIC guidance to identify the applicable external dispute-resolution or reporting channel.

Brokers with verified local licences

This list reflects only locally licensed relationships verified in our database. It does not prove that a broker accepts every location or client category; confirm the contracting entity before opening an account.
