Check a Webull transfer beyond the arrival of the shares
An account transfer can leave several records to reconcile: securities, liquidation proceeds, later cash movements and cost basis. A completed asset movement does not establish that every part has arrived or that tax records are correct.
Identify the brokerage company and transfer route
FINRA BrokerCheck identifies WEBULL FINANCIAL LLC, CRD 289063 and SEC registration 8-69978. The current firm report also records disclosure events. Registration is not a finding that the firm has no disciplinary history, nor approval of a particular transfer.
The US help pages distinguish securities services from futures and advisory entities. Match the legal name and account registration on the delivering and receiving statements. Do not apply US brokerage transfer instructions to a similarly branded foreign, futures or advisory account without confirming its route.
First identify whether the request is into Webull, out of Webull or between Webull accounts. Transferability and fees must be checked for that direction, rather than assumed to be reciprocal.
| Part | Evidence | Completion question |
|---|---|---|
| Securities | Delivering and receiving quantities by instrument. | Did the approved holdings arrive? |
| Liquidations | Sale confirmations and net proceeds. | What was sold instead of moved? |
| Residual cash | Later cash entries and receiving credits. | Are additional movements still outstanding? |
| Charges | Each firm's tariff and actual debit. | Which firm charged for which action? |
| Cost basis | Transferred lot data, statements and tax documents. | Has the original information been received and verified? |
Resolve conflicting inbound eligibility guidance
Transfer Basics states a $100 minimum and allows cash-to-margin or margin-to-cash transfers where account registration matches. It excludes a margin debit entering a cash account and unresolved margin calls. The separately published Common Transfer Issues still states a $500 minimum and gives broader warnings about cash/margin account-type mismatch.
Both statements were visible during this review. Obtain the applicable requirements for your account and transfer value; do not assume the lower threshold is accepted or that every cash/margin difference is automatically disqualifying.
Transfer Basics requires supported, USD-denominated assets and gives additional conditions for expiring options and maturing bonds. Confirm each instrument and the relevant dates. A transferable category does not establish eligibility for every security in it.
Keep the delivering account number and ownership registration exactly as recorded. Separate a genuine account-registration difference from a cash/margin facility difference. Preserve any rejection reason before resubmitting, and reconcile the existing request so two requests are not mistaken for one.
Check liquidation, restrictions and later cash movements
The outgoing-transfer guide directs the request through the receiving broker, specifies a $75 fee for full or partial transfers and instructs users to include the WEB prefix with the account number. It lists fractional shares, Treasury bonds and money market funds as nontransferable outgoing assets subject to liquidation. It also restricts partial transfers where a margin debit remains.
Incoming eligibility therefore should not be read as an assurance that the same asset can later leave in kind. Obtain the exact treatment of your holdings before authorising a transfer, including what could be sold and what cash must cover fees.
The fractional-share guidance specifically describes liquidation before a full outgoing transfer, with proceeds sent as a residual transfer. Keep the resulting sale confirmation; a fraction cannot be reconciled solely by counting whole shares at the receiving firm.
The restriction guide describes temporary trading, deposit and withdrawal restrictions while assets are confirmed. It says a completed full transfer closes the Webull account, with later funds or assets handled through residual sweeps. Account closure and completion of every later movement need separate confirmation.
Distinguish a display edit from an official cost-basis correction
After the Transfer says that, when original cost information has not arrived, Webull may use the arrival-day closing price for displayed cost basis and P/L. It gives 10–15 business days for verification and updating after an ACAT transfer.
The same guide permits a limited app edit within 60 days but says that edit is cosmetic: official tax-document updates require information directly from the delivering broker. It also describes a holding period of up to 30 days after incoming assets settle. Asset arrival should not be treated as immediate onward-transfer or withdrawal eligibility.
Display illustration: Suppose 20 shares were acquired for a total of $800, while a temporary arrival-price display uses $50 per share, or $1,000. The $200 difference in those displayed totals is not evidence of a transfer profit or a new tax basis. The original lot records and applicable adjustments still need to be reconciled.
Cost Basis Corrections says platform figures show average cost and directs readers to statements and tax forms for individual lots. Keep the original acquisition dates and quantities, then identify the specific missing or incorrect lot when requesting review. Do not use a manually edited average as proof that a tax form was corrected.
Understand what the ACATS transfer lock covers
The ACATS transfer-lock guide describes blocking outbound full and partial ACATS requests. It expressly leaves incoming transfers, trading, ACH, debit-card and wire transfers, and transfers between Webull accounts available. Either joint owner can manage the lock, subject to the listed account conditions.
This is a specific control, not a freeze on every way assets or money can move. For an unexpected request, preserve the reference, time and account status and contact the firm through its verified channel. Establish which transaction route was involved before assuming that this lock should have blocked it.
For a planned move, check the applicable lock state and restrictions with the receiving and delivering firms. The presence of a setting or an instruction to change it does not establish that a transfer has been approved. This review did not inspect or change a personal security setting.
Close the review only when each record reconciles
- Identify the legal entities, account registrations and transfer direction.
- Resolve the published eligibility differences for the exact assets and value.
- Obtain the transfer scope, liquidation treatment and charges before authorisation.
- Match approved securities to the receiving statement and track residual movements separately.
- Confirm receipt of original cost-basis data and any subsequent official correction.
- Retain account closure, restriction or hold notices alongside completion records.
The outgoing guide's usual 3–5 business-day asset-transfer estimate is not a deadline for every residual payment or cost-basis update. Ask about the specific outstanding component and its reference instead of treating the entire transfer as one undifferentiated status.
Questions about transfer completion
Can the current minimum be assumed to be $100?
No. The two official incoming-transfer pages differ. Confirm the applicable threshold for your request rather than selecting one published figure.
Does changing average cost in the app correct my tax documents?
The provider says that manual display edit is cosmetic. Official corrections require cost-basis information from the delivering firm.
Does the ACATS lock block cash withdrawals?
Its published scope is outbound ACATS transfers. The guide specifically excludes other routes such as ACH and wire transfers from that lock.
