Sources checked 10 October 2026 · Pie instructions and account records

A target allocation, a scheduled payment and a completed purchase describe different stages of a Pie investment.

Start with your company's account and current settings: funding rules differ by entity and by whether a UK instruction is new or retained from an older setup. Review the order and cash records before treating an automatic instruction as an executed investment.

The historical 77 score and protection inputs await full review. Older unverified timeline and rating explanations are withheld from this English page. No account, payment, investment, withdrawal or lending setting was operated.

Match the company before applying an account feature

The FCA record for Trading 212 UK Limited displays reference 609146, Authorised status since 1 October 2014, company 08590005 and www.trading212.com. Its clone notices concern impersonators. This checks displayed identity and status; it does not establish every activity permission, current onboarding availability or personal FOS/FSCS eligibility.

The provider's help pages distinguish UK, Markets, EU and other accounts. An English interface does not identify the contracting company. Keep the accepted agreement and account type alongside the particular feature's eligibility statement.

Each record answers a different question about an automatic investment.

A setting visible today does not reconstruct a previous cycle. Preserve its confirmation timestamp and the statement covering that cycle before changing it.

A target weight is not an instruction to sell an overweight holding

The Pies and AutoInvest introduction distinguishes Self-Balancing, which directs new money towards underweight holdings first, from By Targets, which allocates the incoming amount according to target percentages. Self-Balancing is the stated default for new funding. These allocation rules do not by themselves establish a sale of existing holdings.

Before an investment, compare the chosen distribution mode with current holding values and targets. A holding above its target can still receive part of a By Targets contribution. If your intention involves selling or changing existing positions, inspect the separate rebalance or order instruction and its preview rather than assuming a contribution performs that operation.

The Model Pies explanation describes ETF portfolios, including different underlying exposures, with proposed quarterly updates that users can apply or dismiss. A model update does not mean your portfolio automatically adopts each change. The introduction describes this as execution-only information, not investment advice or research.

Pies operate in the account's primary currency rather than supporting the account's multicurrency functionality. A security in another currency can therefore involve automatic conversion and the applicable fee. Save the order preview's currency and cost breakdown; a portfolio label or ETF exposure cannot establish the transaction's settlement currency.

For a new UK schedule, cash-first can be an all-or-nothing decision

The introduction and AutoInvest payment settings describe external funding methods for new or changed UK schedules. Existing UK free-funds instructions can continue, but changing to an external method prevents reverting to a free-funds-only setup. The payment page's broader funding list should be read with this UK transition rule.

The Use my free cash first explanation says the option is off by default and is being rolled out gradually. When enabled, sufficient free cash funds the whole scheduled amount. If free cash is insufficient, the selected external method funds the entire amount; the system does not split the payment between the two sources.

Funding illustration: For a confirmed eligible schedule of £180 with cash-first enabled and £70 of available free cash, the described rule calls for £180 from the external method, rather than a £110 top-up. The £70 is not used towards that cycle under this rule. This assumes the displayed setting applies and says nothing about payment acceptance, charges or subsequent execution.

The provider distinguishes its scheduled AutoInvest processing time of 08:00 CET from Pie order execution during regular market hours. Its introduction excludes extended-hours and 24/5 execution for Pies. A payment at the scheduled time can therefore precede a purchase.

Retain the payment status and order status separately. A declined external payment can produce a missed cycle; a successful payment can still leave cash awaiting an order. The settings page recommends cancellation at least one day before AutoInvest or recurring payments and six days before direct debit. Those lead times do not certify reversal of an already processed payment or order.

Dividend cash can wait for a minimum or an unfinished order

The Pie dividend reinvestment explanation says DRIP is enabled by default. Disabling it sends future dividends to the main free-funds balance outside the Pie. The location of the holding on the ex-dividend date determines where its dividend is assigned; a later move does not automatically rewrite that entitlement.

The minimum investment depends on the smallest target weight and the minimum permitted order value. Check the threshold displayed in the Pie and order preview rather than assuming every dividend immediately buys a security.

Minimum illustration: If the applicable minimum order value is £1 and the smallest target weight is 2%, the stated calculation gives £1 ÷ 0.02 = £50. A £49 Pie cash balance would remain below that calculated minimum. These are hypothetical inputs, not a claim about a particular account. The help pages use both “reaches” and “exceeds” for the trigger, so confirm the displayed threshold and actual order result rather than promising execution at exactly £50.

The DRIP explanation describes reinvestment by targets, while the introduction describes Self-Balancing as the new-funding default. Do not assume every automatic cash movement uses one allocation mode: inspect the relevant setting and resulting holdings. A manual or AutoInvest contribution can also include existing available Pie cash.

The uninvested Pie cash explanation identifies another cause: incomplete orders, including closed-market or unfilled orders. Cash may remain even above the threshold, and manual Invest or Withdraw can be disabled until those orders complete or are cancelled. Check the order state before adding a second instruction. Single-instrument AutoInvest outside a Pie does not have Pie DRIP; its dividends go to main free funds.

Lending income changes rights and introduces collateral risk

The share lending explanation limits the feature to eligible Invest accounts and excludes Trading 212 EU accounts. It describes passing on 50% of the lending interest. That is a revenue share, not a 50% annual return. Borrowing demand and whether a holding is lent affect income.

While shares are lent, the provider says voting rights are unavailable and borrower-funded manufactured payments replace dividends. Those payments may receive different tax treatment depending on jurisdiction. Retain their classification and seek advice for your circumstances; this review does not determine a personal tax liability.

The lending risk explanation distinguishes UK US-Treasury collateral from Markets cash collateral. It describes a minimum 102% collateral level with daily adjustment and warns that intraday share-price movements can leave a shortfall. A collateral percentage is not a guarantee against loss or proof that an individual's claim qualifies for compensation.

The provider offers a dashboard setting to disable lending. That help answer does not establish an immediate recall time or immediate return of voting rights. If those rights matter for an issuer deadline, obtain confirmation of the actual lending and recall state.

Reconcile a cycle before changing its instructions

  1. Identify the company, account type, Pie and dated configuration.
  2. Match the scheduled amount to the selected funding method, cash-first setting and payment result.
  3. Locate pending orders, fills, quantities, currencies and charges.
  4. Reconcile residual Pie cash and dividends with the displayed minimum and the main free-funds ledger.
  5. For lent holdings, retain quantities, income entries, replacement-payment labels and any rights or recall confirmation.

Questions about automated investment states

Will cash-first use my balance and charge only the shortfall?

The reviewed UK rule uses free cash only when it covers the full scheduled amount. If it falls short, the selected external method funds the full amount. Check eligibility and the current setting before a cycle.

Why is dividend cash still in my Pie?

It may be below the minimum determined by the smallest target weight, or awaiting an incomplete order. Inspect the displayed threshold, dividend entry and pending-order status separately.

Does disabling lending immediately restore my vote?

The reviewed help page provides a setting but does not promise immediate recall or voting restoration. Request the position's actual state and check the issuer's deadline.

Accepted agreements, personal feature availability, payment and order results, lending records, tax treatment, full permissions, compensation eligibility and historical scoring remain pending.
